This story has been updated to correct the name and hours for Sunflower Diversified Recycling.

Sunflower Diversified Services will offer free outdoor spaces for local produce and crafts vendors at its Sunflower Diversified Recycling facility, starting June 9. The facility is located at 5523 10th St. in Great Bend (on the south side of 10th Street, across from Sutherlands).
According to Sarah Krom at SDS, Sunflower’s West Side Farmers Market will be open on select dates through Sept. 28.
“We have opened up our south lot to local producers to sell items grown or handmade,” Krom said. “Spaces are available by completing a short application and waiver. Sunflower does not collect any fees or commission from vendor sales. ”
Market hours available to vendors and shoppers are: 3 to 8:30 p.m. Mondays; 7 a.m. to noon Wednesdays and Saturdays; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sundays. Additional dates or extended times may be available contingent upon the success of the market and needs identified by the community.
Amanda Urban with Sunflower noted this service is part of the nonprofit agency’s community outreach. Sunflower serves people with developmental disabilities in Barton, Pawnee, Rice, Rush and Stafford counties.
Interested vendors should contact Sarah by calling 620-792-1321 or send email to sekrom@sunflowerdiv.com.
The recycling center is open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturdays. For more information call 620-793-5800.
