A traffic stop at 12:08 a.m. Friday resulted in the driver being booked in the county jail on drug charges. Great Bend Police officers stopped a Dodge Ram driven by Michael Brown, 65, in the 1100 block of Main for alleged traffic infractions. According to a press release, Brown said he was traveling to Wichita from Hoisington.
“Officers observed (him) to be noticeably nervous during the traffic stop.” The Great Bend Police Department’s K-9 Kia was called in to sniff the pickup for indications of controlled substances. After the K-9 did “indicate” on the vehicle, a large amount of suspected marijuana was found hidden in the cab, along with paraphernalia and methamphetamine.
