Last Friday’s “Night at the Museum” program featured historic characters from the Santa Fe Trail come to life, including Kit Carson and William Becknell, the man credited with opening the historic trail 200 years ago. The museum’s “ghost” led the tour, presented by Ride Into History, a camp where participants researched historic characters and learned to portray them. The camp was sponsored by the Quivira Chapter of the Santa Fe Trail Association. Susan Dunhaupt with Ride Into History said two more camps were planned this month, in Lyons and McPherson, but they have been postponed due to illness.
