Great Bend USD 428 District Education Center.

The Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education will consider bids on a boiler replacement for the Panther Activity Center (PAC) when the board meets at noon Thursday, April 29, at the District Education Center, 201 South Patton Road.

This is the April luncheon meeting, normally held at Great Bend High School. GBHS Principal Tim Friess and other staff members will join the meeting via online video conference to share information regarding the academic programs and the school improvement efforts.

The USD 428 restart plan in response to the COVID-19 pandemic is also on the agenda. At the April 12 meeting, Superintendent Khris Thexton said he wasn’t ready to recommend dropping the indoor mask mandate but said the board could discuss it again at the April 29 meeting. Meanwhile, staff have been surveyed about their thoughts on the subject and now a survey has gone out to parents in the district.

Other items on Thursday’s agenda include a winter weather natural gas update, personnel report and approval of grants and contributions.
