Pavement marking is expected to start Wednesday, Sept. 2, on an 8-mile section of U.S. 56 in Barton County.

The project will be from the east city limits of Great Bend to the west city limits of Ellinwood.

During the work, traffic will be restricted to one lane and controlled by flaggers and a pilot car. Motorists should be prepared to stop and be delayed by up to 15 minutes.

The project is expected to be completed around Sept. 11, depending on the weather.

The Kansas Department of Transportation is overseeing the project.

Cillessen & Sons Inc. of Kechi is the primary contractor for the $116,166 project.
