LARNED — Wadonna King welcomed members of the sorority chapter at 2 p.m. Monday.
President Patty Smith said the chapter has received a three-star rating from Beta Sigma Phi International for the 2015-16 year.
The Beta Book drill by Glenna Melkus was on “Traditions.”
The service committee reported that four members attended the dedication of the Larned Garden Club Memorial Rose Garden on Sunday, Oct. 9, and received a certificate for contributing to the refurbished garden. In the past, several rose buses have been dedicated in honor of relatives of current and former members. The beautiful garden is complete with benches, brass plaques, and roses and is enjoyed by the population of Larned.
Additional reports were given by courtesy and included cards sent to the Dan Collins family, Cindy Grant and Mary Klinge. The chapter is invited to a December wedding reception in Larned for Kjersti Carlton and Justin Martinez following their wedding in Salt Lake City Nov. 23.
The social committee thanked Jerry and Margaret Larson for hosting the September social at their fire pit. Breakfast for gals is scheduled at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15 at Sweets and Eats in Larned.
Upcoming socials for couples will be a Thanksgiving dinner at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 20 in the home of Alice Clapsaddle, a coffee for gals at Glenna Melkus home from 9-11 a.m. Dec. 5; and the annual Christmas luncheon and gift exchange for members at the Reidener Inn on Dec. 12.
Announcements included the Golden Circle ritual for Alice Clapsaddle in April.
Margaret Larson presented the program on “Origins of Halloween” with members sharing past experiences of the holiday. Refreshments were served by the hostess during the social hour.
The 2 p.m. Nov. 14 Alpha Kappa Master meeting is scheduled at the home of Margaret Larson with Patty Smith as co-hostess. Connie Carlton will present the program.
