LARNED  — A Volunteer Appreciation Dinner was held April 25 at the Welcome Inn with about 40 in attendance.
The dinner celebrated National Volunteer Appreciation Week April 21 to 27.
Volunteers do many things at the Welcome Inn.
They clean off tables, answer phones, make favors for various occasions, drive meals to the homebound and drive people to appointments. In fact, more than 35 examples of how people volunteer at the Welcome Inn are listed on a bulletin board.
Everyone who eat a meal at the Welcome Inn is a volunteer in some way.
The evening had an Earth-Day theme, with newspapers covering the tables.
Following the dinner, several modeled items made out of things we recycle.  Each paraded around in front of the group and identify the various recyclable items they were wearing.
The Welcome Inn staff appreciated everyone who helped organize the evening and set up the area for the dinner.
The main course, sausage and a special bean mix, was donated by the Knights of Columbus. Chef Charles Wonsetler grilled the sausage.  Salads and desserts were furnished by those in attendance.
