DODGE CITY — Dodge City dominated with its hitting to roll past Larned’s American Legion baseball team 11-3 Wednesday. The second game was rained out.
Larned (12-10) will play Pratt at home in a nine-inning game Friday. Larned will compete July 20-23 in Class AA Zone at Ellis with Pratt Skyline, Hoisington and Ulysses. The winner qualifies for Class AA State July 27-Aug. 2 at Colby.
Landon Erway’s double scored Evan Skelton in the first inning. But Dodge City scored nine runs off pitcher Evan Skelton.
Gideon Wells started the Rangers’ rally with a run-scoring single. Eric Reid delvered a two-run single and Roman Galloway doubled home a run in a five-run second inning. Reid doubled home Galloway in the third inning for a 7-1 lead.
Andrew Balderez drove home two runs in the fourth inning for a 9-1 lead.
Erway doubled home Evan Skelton in the fifth inning. Evan Skelton singled home Camryn Bryant in the sixth inning.
Mark Lewis and Jackson Oldham delivered run-scoring singles in the sixth inning to end the game on an eight-run rule. Pitcher Nick Nelson earned the victory.
