LARNED  — Jordaan Library has lots of fun Summer Reading opportunities for children of all ages beginning Tuesday, and running until school resumes in August.
Everyone is encouraged to read for prizes in the 2014 Fizz, Boom, Read! summer reading program, especially designed for tots through 4th grade.
Kids from 5th through 12th grades can participate in this year’s Spark A Reaction! program.
Would you like to see your children maintain their reading skills over the summer months? Then you might want to consider signing them up for the Summer Assets Program once or twice a week. Summer Assets kids will receive adult supervision with both book selection, and special reading times for assistance and encouragement with reading.
Two and three year olds may attend the Little Friends Story Time on Wednesdays at 10 a.m.,
Preschoolers, K and 1st graders can attend the Summer Story club on Fridays at 10 a.m.
2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders can attend the Mad Scientist’s Club on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 to 11 a.m. An American Girls Club for girls from 1st through 6th grades will be held Thursday afternoons from 2 to 3 p.m..  Pre-registration for these activities is required, and may be completed at the Library from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily Monday through Friday.  While reading for prizes begins May 27th, all book club activities will begin the week of June 2nd.
Jordaan Library will also be hosting four special summer programs on Friday afternoons at 1:30 p.m. during the month of June. Plan to attend presentations by the Kansas Cosmosphere on Friday, June 6th, a special music program by Randy Sauer on Friday, June 13th, a magic show by Dan, Dan the Magic Man on Friday, June 20th, and the Brit Spaugh Zoo on Friday, June 27th. Let’s make sure the children of our community have a great time reading this summer, and most importantly, that they return to school with their reading skills intact! Don’t miss out on these fun opportunities!!
