KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Dixie Kissam Henderson, a 1961 graduate of Larned High School was recently featured in the Kansas City Star giving credit to her efforts in the local film industry.
Henderson, president of Shabobba International, LLC in Kansas City, was recently re-elected to the local board of the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists. (SAG-AFTRA).
Her company, Shabobba International, wears many professional hats, among them conducting youth workshops in photojournalism, photography, and screenwriting. Shabobba also delivers lectures in tandem with the artwork. The company draws upon the best in the film industry to speak at many various events.
“I have spent over 20 years in public service, building youth programs on career awareness and a few more years in the private sectors and international business,” Henderson said.
Shabobba International recently hosted a VIP FBI dedication ceremony in honor of Donald Greenhaus, a New York City renowned International author and photographer.
She has spent over 20 years in public service, USDOL, building youth programs on career awareness and a few more years in the private sector , nationally and internationally as well.
She has been nominated for membership in the FBI Citizens’ Academy since she graduated from the Academy in 2012. (the Academy is the FBI’s private sector community ambassadors for education and preparedness to ensure a safer America)
The company, founded in 2004, has interesting beginnings from its launch in the Historic Riiver Market in Kansas City, Mo.
In Kansas City, in 1995, the Robert Altman film, “Kansas City” was shot. The film was a re-creation of Kansas City in 1934 -- crime, race, politics, and jazz. Altman brought together some of the best jazz players who were around at that time. The artist behind the scenes was Donald Greenhaus.
The renowned works of Greenhaus with the creativity of Henderson came together and joined in the business partnership.
Although Greenhaus passed away in 2007, the business partnership lives and thrives. Greenhaus’ photography is world class and his works and prints are known and treasured throughout the world.
Among her many honors, Hendersone, who has a background in foreign affairs, has served in several administrations. Her work includes global sales, allied housing, and international development.
