Larned Legion baseball sweeps Hoisington

HOISINGTON — Larned went scoreless for seven innings before rallying for a 6-5 American Legion baseball victory in 11 innings over rival Hoisington. Larned completed a sweep with a 13-3 victory Monday.
Larned returns home to play Lyons tonight at Moffet Stadium.
In the opener, Isiah Perez and Johnathon Herter each drove in two runs for Larned. Landon Erway had three hits for Larned. Winning pitcher Perez yielded one run and struck out eight batters in five innings. Larned overcame six errors with a pair of double plays. Starter Evan Skelton struck out nine batters.
Hunter Hanzlick led Hoisington with three hits and two runs batted in. Kody Lang and Schulte also drove in runs. Hoisington starter Brad Reif yielded three runs in seven innings and struck out six batters. Hanzlick worked three scoreless innings.
Erway doubled and scored on an error for a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Jacob Warnken reached on an error and scored on an error for a 1-1 tie.
Perez singled home Mason Schartz and Herter singled home Gage Skelton and Perez for a 4-1 lead in the third inning.
Hanzlick singled home Reif in the third inning. Justin Umphrey drove home Hanzlick after a triple and Kody Lang’s double drove home Warnken for a 4-4 tie after five innings.
Erway singled home Schartz after a walk and two steals for a 5-4 lead in the 11th inning. Tyler Stelter singled home Erway for a 6-4 lead off pitcher Kody Lang.
Hanzlick singled home Reif in the 11th inning, but Perez retired Umphrey for the final out.

LARNED 13,
HOISINGTON 3
Larned pitcher Camryn Bryant struck out nine batters and yielded one earned run. Erway led the offense with a double and three runs batted in. Perez and Bryant each had two RBIs.
Perez doubled home two runs and Herter and Bryant delivered RBIs for a 4-0 lead. Kody Lang singled home Reif for a 4-1 score.
Schartz scored in the second inning. Erway doubled home two runs and Evan Skelton, Schartz and Stelter delivered RBIs in a five-run third inning for a 10-1 lead.  
Warnken scored in the third inning for a 10-2 score.
Erway drove home Schartz with a sacrifice fly and Bryant singled home Perez for a 13-2 lead in the fifth inning.
Jeremy Breit singled home Hanzlick for Hoisington’s final run.
