LARNED — The Kansas Lottery has spread its good fortune on a 74-year-old Larned resident.
Ben H. Bailey of Larned will receive the keys to a 2011 Ford Mustang GT Kansas Speedway® Official Pace Car at Marmie Ford in Great Bend at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Bailey won the 2011 Ford Mustang GT pace car in a Power Play to Kansas Speedway Lottery drawing held Oct. 9 before the NASCAR race at Kansas Speedway.  The grand prize drawing will be coordinated by Jerry Marmie at Marmie Ford, 1815 10th Street.
Bailey, who purchased his winning entry at Dillons 9 Store, 423 Main Street in Larned, said he was thrilled to have won the brand new Ford Mustang.
“I can’t wait to get it! My car is 12 years old and I needed something newer to drive,” said Bailey.  “Now, I can drive to California, Florida and Oklahoma to see my relatives.”
In addition to the car, his grand prize includes the payment of mandatory state and federal income withholding taxes, plus all applicable taxes and fees for the vehicle, bringing the total value of the grand prize to approximately $61,000.
“When Lottery officials called saying that I had won, I thought someone was playing a trick on me,” Bailey said. “I bought Powerball tickets with the Power Play option every Wednesday and Saturday since this promotion started.”
To become eligible for the Power Play to Kansas Speedway® promotion, players purchased Powerball with Power Play, $10 minimum, on a single ticket to receive an entry form for the drawings.
Prior to the grand prize drawing, 80 players were awarded with VIP Racing Experience prize packages for two to the June and October NASCAR races at Kansas Speedway.
