LARNED — The Larned softball Indians ran into a stiff challenge in a 8-3 regional championship loss to rival Hoisington High. Larned finished 9-13 and had 11 hits in the championship-game loss, but stranded nine baserunners.
Larned pitcher Mattie Glover, who also plays third base, started the regional championship game against Hoisington. Glover drove in two runs in the title game.
Other returning starters are 3B-SS Tymarra Bryant, 2B Madison Erway, OF Haley Skelton, OF Kelsey Parr and OF-C Erin Smith.
The Indians will be well prepared for post-season play in the rugged Central Kansas League.
“With returnees at many key positions we hope to compete at a very high level in the upcoming season,” said Larned first-year coach Nate Junker. “Every team has different dynamics and each season will offer different challenges. But Larned softball will look to continue to develop and compete at a high level.”
