Pawnee Co. hazardous waste collection scheduled Saturday

LARNED — The Pawnee County Commission met at 9 a.m. Sept. 28 for a regular meeting. Pawnee County commissioners Kathy Bowman; Donna Pelton, chair; and Gary Caplinger, were present. The following are approved minutes submitted by Pawnee County clerk Ruth Searight.
Searight gave the commissioners the following for their review/approval — agenda; draft minutes of September 21, 2015; final oil and gas V D Trust distribution; airport apron payment to file; independent contractor form from 2012, to use once County Attorney okay’s; sales and comp tax distribution; and payables.
• Commissioners approved and signed checks for payables.
• Searight gave each commissioner a clerk’s report and interim for their review.
• Kurt Demel, Pawnee County highway administrator. Commissioners approved and signed payroll change form for new hire, Greg Wares, Equipment Operator II/Chemical Applicator, Level III, Step 1, effective, Oct. 5, 2015.
Commissioners signed two road crossing permits for F G Holl, LLC.
Demel gave updates on the Larned State Hospital road sealing. Demel discussed other sealing projects, KDOT truck repairs, FEMA, and mowing in Santa Fe township.

10:50 a.m.—Cheryl Hoberecht, Local Health Officer, presented and commissioner’s approved and signed Charter Resolution No. 15, regarding exempting the Health Department from K.S.A. 65-202, which is the annual sanitary inspections of school buildings and grounds by County Health Officer.
11:20 a.m.—Rod Wheaton, Pawnee County solid waste supervisor, presented and discussed an additional contract to amend the original contract from July 1, 2015 through Dec. 31, 2015, to pay a monthly fee of $3,020.  Commissioners approved and signed the contract. Wheaton discussed a new well.
Informed the commissioners they would be accepting hazardous waste items this weekend from 9 a.m. until noon, at the Pawnee County highway department, 615 East 10th.
Wheaton discussed the need to replace the 15 year old security system camera.
Wheaton discussed a security system that would record, and the cost would be $1,985, from Golden Belt Telephone.  Commissioners approved, to be paid from solid waste budget.
11:45 a.m.—The meeting was adjourned. The next meeting was scheduled for 9 a.m. Oct. 5.
