LARNED — The Pawnee County Commission met Aug. 29 at the Pawnee County Courthouse. The following are approved minutes submitted by Pawnee Commission clerk Ruth Searight.
9 a.m. — Pawnee County commissioners Kathy Bowman, Donna Pelton and John Haas were present.
Commissioners went through mail.
9:25 a.m. — Commissioners recessed to go to Scraps to meet with representative of U.S. Senator Jerry Moran.
10:05 a.m. —    Commissioners recessed to host reception for new Larned City Manager, Lane Massey.
11 a.m. — Commissioners approved dispersing the Blue Cross/Blue Shield monthly renewal checks today.
Ruth Searight, Pawnee County clerk, gave each commissioner a clerk’s report and interim statement. She informed commissioners of the monthly (August) and year to date health 1 percent sales and compensating tax collection. She gave each commissioner information on the employees at the Larned State Facilities.
Commissioners signed payroll change forms for Nathan Barker, Level III, to Step 2, effective Aug. 14; for Caitlin Debes, Level V, to Step 4, effective Aug. 24; for Eli Makings, Level II, to Step 2, effective Aug. 7.
Denise Wood, Community Corrections/Juvenile Justice Authority director, gave an update on a Kcamp claim regarding the phone system.
Commissioners reviewed the final 2010 Pawnee County audit report.
Richard VonFeldt, VonFeldt, Bauer and VonFeldt, presented and reviewed the 2010 Pawnee County audit,
Commissioners accepted the 2010 Pawnee County audit as presented.
1:30 p.m. — Commissioners approved Braeden Bert’s request to rally around the flag pole on 9-11-11, at 7:40 a.m.
Commissioners approved Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility to use Camp Pawnee Oct. 29.
1:35 p.m. —The commssioners conducted a public hearing on the 2012 proposed budget for Pawnee County.  
Kim Barnes was present, and asked a few questions.
Commissioners adopted the 2012 budget as published. Commissioners then signed the 2012 adopted budget.
Darold Bussard, Pawnee County custodian, gave an update on getting information for a shed for the mowing equipment.  For the winter, the equipment will be stored at R & B department.
Rod Wheaton, solid waste supervisor, informed commissioners that Department of Corrections has paid its annual renewal.
Wheaton informed the commissioners the Larned State Hospital wants to change some aspects on the contract
Wheaton provided an update on a work-comp claim in his department.
2:20 p.m. — Scott Turner, office manager II, R & B, discussed the air condition needing replaced in the public transportation bus. The state of Kansas will not approve because Pawnee County is are scheduled to get a new bus in 2012.
Searight gave each commissioner 2010 tax rates for 2011 budgets for counties, cities and unified school districts.
Commissioners read and approved minutes of August 22.
John Settle, Pawnee County attorney, discussed the contract with Larned State Hospital    regarding solid waste.
3:30 p.m. — Settle and Kim Barnes, discussed a letter that needs to be sent to U. S. Senator Pat Roberts.
Commissioners discussed a possible date for ground breaking for the new Pawnee Valley Community Hospital. The commissioners discussed changes on new hospital and construction manager.
 4:10 p.m.— The meeting was adjourned until a special meeting at 10 a.m. Thursday, regarding the Guaranteed Maximum Price for the new Pawnee Valley Community Hospital and any other business that may be presented.
The next regular meeting is scheduled Monday, Sept. 12.
