Poacher fined $800 for illegal hunting

LARNED — Jonathan Hayden, 34 of Macksville, was found guilty in the Pawnee County District Court of four fish and game violations for illegally taking a deer out of season Mondy in Pawnee County District Court.
Magistrate Judge Julie Cowell found that the defendant had possessed an untagged whitetail doe, hunted with the aid of a vehicle, hunted deer out of season and hunted with the aid of artificial night in a three-hout bench trial.
The incident was investigated by the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks after receiving a citizen complaint on Jan. 28, 2014, northwest of Macksville.
After issuing its verdict, the court sentenced Hayden to six months in jail, placed him on 12 months probation, suspended his hunting privileges for 12 months, fined him $800 and forfeited his rifle and scope.
