Quilting Bees display plenty for Show, Tell

LARNED — The Quilting Bees Guild met on Oct. 6, at the First Presbyterian Church fellowship hall.  
An election of officers for the 2016 year will be held the second meeting in November. Members should ask the prospective officer if they are willing to run.  
Plans were made and projects collected for the Quilt Show Saturday and Sunday at the Santa Fe Trail Center.  Colleen Wolf and Ann Hicks are chairmen for the event.  The friendship quilt “Pumpkin Seed” blocks were won by Diane Schultz of Great Bend.
The next meeting is scheduled for Oct. 20 with Carol Crockett demonstrating a Cricuit machine (a fabric dye cut machine). Discussion was held concerning the Christmas party and potluck for Tuesday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m.  A grab-bag gift exchange will be held.
Show and Tell participants were  Mary Weber, modified Log Cabin quilt top in browns, beige and aqua designed for a prayer quilt; Alice Clapsaddle, two Halloween narrow wall hangings; Melvina Prescott, “Fright Sight” quilt wall hanging and a patriotic quilt for the Garfield Veterans Day observation and turkey shoot; Merlene Baird, queen size “Josephene’s Knot” quilt in black and red; Gayle Fanshier, a baby quilt “All Star Quilt, No. 2”, 2 table toppers, “Wedding Ring” quilt in browns and aqua; Opal Macy 2 table runners, “Fright Sight” wall hanging, and all 12 months of blocks assigned by Diane Schultz; Virginia Bauer, large blue and white “Star”  table topper; Sue Southem, 6 quilted hand bags, Colleen Wolf, 4 wool candle mats, 2 table runners, 1 table topper all in fall colors, and “Breast Cancer” quilt belonging to her daughter.
