LARNED — Perry L. Isley, 54, appeared Wednesday afternoon in the Pawnee County District Court on a single charge of aggravated criminal sodomy, a severity level 1 person felony.
Douglas W. McNett, assistant Pawnee County attorney, reports the charge stems from an alleged incident involving another patient on Nov. 16, 2011, at the Sexual Predator Treatment Program on the campus of Larned State Hospital.
McNett said the alleged incident was investigated by the Kansas Bureau of Investigation with the assistance of Larned State Hospital staff.
After advising the defendant of the charge, possible penalties and his constitutional rights, Magistrate Judge Julie Cowell scheduled the matter for Preliminary Hearing for April 17.
McNett said it is possible the preliminary hearing will be continued a few weeks and more time will be allowed to issue subpoenas.
Steven Cott of Garden City was appointed to represent the defendant. Isley was taken into custody by the Pawnee County Sheriff prior to the hearing and will remain in the Sheriff’s custody until further order of the Pawnee District Court.
