Julie Bugner Smith, United Way of Central Kansas, director, gave presentations to the fifth grade classes at the Fort Larned USD 495 middle school and asked students to compose a poster depicting the United Way and the 21 agencies they serve, and how they make a difference in the community. A committee chose several poster winners from each school. The poster winners presented their work to volunteers and companies that are involved and are continued supporters of the United Way of Central Kansas. Pictured are poster winner Chris Hutchins with Thomas Kinlen, Larned State Hospital superintendent; poster winner Ben Kelty with Kevyn Soupiset, 2014 United Way co-chair; poster winner Kindric Castro with Jim and Suzan Haynes; poster winner Jenny Slaughter with Pam Corby, city of Larned; poster winner Breannan Perez with Wanda Ferris, Shopko; and poster winner Ayla Shull with Brenda Langdon, Pawnee Valley Community Hospital.
