Pawnee County sees small increase in weekly COVID cases

LARNED — The Pawnee County Health Department (PCHD) reported two new cases of COVID-19 over the week. The current case total is 1,145 (2 active cases) as of Tuesday, April 6. Community case totals (excluding Larned State Hospital, individuals in long-term care and Larned Correctional Mental Health Facility) saw an increase of one at 607. Two cases have been identified in the last two weeks and one case within the last week.

The county death total from COVID-19 remains at 13, unchanged for more than a month. The county remains at Level Green on the COVID risk assessment matrix. Level Green represents no to minimal risk of spreading COVID-19.

“Vaccine is still available to anyone 18 years of age and older at the Pawnee County Health Department,” said PCHD director Cheryl Hoberecht. To schedule an appointment call 620-285-6963. There is no charge for the vaccine.
