Mike Westerman, retired Ellinwood High School English teacher, thrilled a crowd last week by appearing as Edgar Allan Poe for an Oct. 30 program at First United Congregational United Church of Christ in Great Bend.
Westerman thrilled approximately 75 Poe fans for attended the event, according to Julie A. Shields, pastor at the church. Before reading the macabre poem “The Raven,” he relayed little-known facts about Poe (1809-1849), American author, poet and short story writer. Westerman later took questions from the audience.
