Action taken at a special BCC board meeting on Tuesday included: • Accepting the only bid submitted to replace the ceiling over the swimming pool, for $53,320. Acoustic Contracting will do the work in August.• Discussed personnel in executive session for 30 minutes.• Extended BCC President Carl Heilman’s rolling three-year contract for another year, to 2018.• Approved hiring: David Caudill II as assistant director of Human Resources on the Barton County campus; Michelle Merchant at a part-time customer service representative at Fort Leavenworth; and Phil Shoemaker as the head volleyball coach. Applications sought to fill vacant trustee position: Tuesday marked the first July 2015 meeting of the Barton Community College Board of Trustees, and that meant newly elected trustees signed the oath of office.
