There is an e-mail circulating offering the chance to purchase advertising on a Great Bend High School football poster. However, said Unified School District 428 Superintendent Tom Vernon, it has nothing to do with the school system.
“This is not authorized by GBHS or USD 428,” Vernon said. The e-mail is from a private company. The company is not local and there is no benefit to the district.
The offer, which comes from Football Poster Director Mike Lugo, reads “Great Bend High School Football 2011  Schedule Posters  ... GO Panthers!”
It goes on to say all ads on the poster will be  exclusive this year and there will be only have one type of each business included. It notes there will be up to 5,000 posters to be sent out in September.
In addition, it says the company is making the same offer for all area high schools.
Ad prices ranges from $299.50 to $749.50, depending on the size.
