Pothole Patrol
Residents urged to report potholes

It is nice to see all the precipitation of late, but is leading to cracks in streets and creating craters, Great Bend City Administrator Brandon Anderson said.

“We’ve been receiving some nice moisture, which is good. we sure need that,” he said. “But through those winter months when it gets cooler, all that water starts to accumulate on roads and get down into the blacktop. that’s when we have issues with potholes.”

It is the freezing and thawing that causes the problems as the road surface expands and contracts.

He continues to stress to those individuals who know of pot holes and are having issues with them to call the city. “We need to know where they are,” he said, adding city personnel are also tracking the problem spots.

“And then staff, when it dries out enough, will get out there and work on those,” he said. “We ask that you continue to bear with us during this time of year.”
