Informational meetings about the 2020 Census will be presented Thursday in English and Spanish. The programs are open to the public and are presented in partnership with the regional U.S. Census Office, USD 428 and the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce.
“The census is an important tool in measuring America – people, places and economy,” according to a statement from USD 428. “Data collected in the 2020 census will directly affect Barton County’s representation and funding for a wide variety of services across the community.” These include health clinics, fire departments, roads, schools and congressional representation. It is imperative that our community understands the impact of the census and the importance of each response.”
On Thursday, February 13, there are two opportunities to hear from the U.S. Census team. The first presentation is geared for English-speaking attendees and will be held at the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce, 1125 Williams St. at 4 p.m. A second presentation will be given in Spanish at Lincoln Elementary School, 5630 Broadway Ave., at 7 p.m. Attendees can expect to learn more about how to respond to the 2020 Census, online response tools, why every response matters, and specifics about individuals’ privacy and data security.
