ELLINWOOD — By royal decree, Queen Melody of the Ellinwood Library Fairy-tale Realm is calling on all children to enter an enchanted world this summer using their imaginations and creativity.
“Because of the plague,” said the Queen in an interview, “we will not be able to gather at the library in small groups but at the bandshell instead. As queen of this library, I will be requesting that our subjects continue to learn and read this summer. I will be presenting prizes awarded on reading quests set forth by sessions.”
The Queen’s royal staff will be available at the castle (the library) to check out “Bags O’ Tales” to the children. Parents of the children will then be able to log daily reading on a magical Reader Zone app that has been created by technological wizards.
At the bandshell, Queen Melody will be reading magical fairy tales to the children. Then by using her creative talents, and with assistance from Princess Treva and their royal staff, a take-home activity will be demonstrated to the children. These magical activities may include magic wands, crowns, dragon activities, as well as fairy wings and knights’ shields.
“If the pestilence abates”, declared Queen Melody, “I have entertainment planned and on July 13, we will have a magic show.”
Parents interested in signing their children up for the reading quests and activities should call the library on June 1, at (620) 564-2306, to register their children and receive further instructions on how the program will be carried out this year.
Queen Melody is looking forward to seeing all of her subjects this summer!
