Starting on Wednesday, April 22, and continuing for one week, a railroad crossing replacement project on K-14/K-96 highway in the city of Sterling will be underway. K-14/K-96 highway will be closed at this crossing, so highway traffic will be detoured on city streets using Garfield Avenue, 1st Street, and Cleveland Avenue. No oversize loads will be allowed through this detour due to narrow city streets with tight turns, so oversized loads will need to use an alternate route. Local traffic will have access into the downtown area from each side of the railroad but won’t be able to drive across the railroad crossing during construction.

KDOT urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through a highway work zone.
