Local officers hold Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run fundraiser
Kansas Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run fundraiser

Great Bend Police Department Cpl. Jazmine Bell and other GBPD officers held a local Kansas Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run fundraiser Tuesday outside of Walmart in Great Bend. It ran from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and raised over $550 in T-shirt sales and donations. Bell is pictured on the right and Major James Graham from the Larned State Correctional Facility, who helped as well, is on the left. Since its inception in Wichita, many more Kansas law enforcement agencies, including several from this area, have participated in the run that has become a fundraising campaign that raises thousands of dollars for Special Olympics. In late April, it begins when the Flame of Hope travels from all corners of the state throughout the month of May to the State Summer Games in Wichita and Maize this weekend. It passed through Larned and Great Bend last week as local athletes with the Great Bend Storm prepared to take part in the upcoming games.
