Catholic Social Service invites the public to Blow Bubbles for Babies

November is adoption awareness month and Catholic Social Service is hosting the first annual Bubbles for Babies event from Nov. 14 to 18 to raise awareness about infant adoption. The fun, week-long celebration is an opportunity for individuals to pick up a bottle of bubbles and blow bubbles—both real and virtual—about their experiences and stories of adoption. The event culminates on Nov. 19, National Adoption Day, when one name will be drawn for a very nice prize basket.
Catholic Social Service is offering participants at least five ways to blow bubbles for babies and to be entered in the drawing; all members of a family may participate:
· “Like” the Catholic Social Service Facebook Page at www.facebook.com/catholicsocialservice. Every new “Like” between Nov. 14 and the end of Nov. 18 will be entered into the drawing.
· Post an adoption-related story or memory on the Catholic Social Service Facebook page anytime between the beginning of November 14th and the end of Nov. 18. Each posted story or memory counts as one entry in the drawing.
· Follow the Catholic Social Service Twitter Page at https://twitter.com/#!/CSSinSWKansas. Every new “Follow” between Nov. 14 and the end of Nov. 18 will be entered into the drawing.
· Retweet Catholic Social Service Tweets. Every retweet between Nov. 14 and the end of Nov. 18 will be entered into the drawing.
· Stop by the Catholic Social Service Adoption Awareness Month Open House on Wednesday Nov. 16 at any time between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at any one of the three offices in southwest Kansas: 2201 16th St in Great Bend, 906 Central Ave in Dodge City, or 603 North 8th in Garden City. All three offices will have goodies, bottles of bubbles, and adoption-related resources to give away. Individuals who are dedicated enough to go to more than one office will be entered into the drawing more than once!
Bubbles for Babies is part of a state-wide effort to promote adoption. “We are very fortunate to have four Catholic Charities agencies in Kansas who are committed to adoption, said Debbie Snapp, Executive Director of Catholic Social Service. “We are working together to develop an online tool that connects waiting families and potential birth parents in Kansas through ParentFinder.com. We are also working together to collectively advocate for a just adoption system in Kansas that protects all members of the adoption triad; children, birth parents and adoptive parents.”
As part of a national Catholic Charities network that has been looking after the needs of children, parents and families for more than 100 years, Catholic Social Service is licensed by the State of Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and has been providing adoption services in southwest Kansas for more than 45 years.
