The Heartland Center for Spirituality, 3600 Broadway Ave., is taking registrations for a Bird-lovers Outing that will take place Saturday, April 27.
Participants will meet at the Dominican Sisters Motherhouse in Great Bend at 8 a.m. for a bird-watching excursion to the Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area.
In conjunction with the outing, the Center is offering a Friday evening social and showing the movie “The Big Year” at 6:15 p.m. on April 26. The movie is free and open to the public as part of the Dominican Sisters’ “Movies with a Message” series. In this 2011 film, two bird enthusiasts try to defeat the cocky, cutthroat world record holder in a year-long bird-spotting competition.
Deadline for registration is Friday, April 19. The $40 overnight rate includes room Friday night with breakfast and lunch on Saturday; $20 commuter rate includes Saturday breakfast and lunch. To register call 620-792-1230 or e-mail: office@heartlandspirituality.org.
