St. Mark Lutheran Church serving soup Sunday

The St. Mark Lutheran Church Soup Lunch will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Church Fellowship Hall, 21st and Jackson, Great Bend.  For a freewill offering, participants can choose homemade taco soup or chicken noodle with butterball soup, and homemade dessert. Carry-out available. All proceeds will go toward various church projects.

Kathleen George to speak at this month’s Aglow

Great Bend Aglow will meet Saturday, Oct. 13, at Perkins Family Restaurant, 2920 10th St. The guest speaker will be Kathleen George from Wichita.
Sign-in and social time begin at 9 a.m. The meeting starts at 9:30 a.m.
 Aglow International is an interdenominational ministry rooted in local groups and is open to men and women. The group can be found on Facebook as Great Bend Aglow.

King United Methodist hosts Family Fall Festival

King United Methodist Church will host the Family Fall Festival from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Oct. 21. The church is located at the intersection of Odell and 16th St., south of the Great Bend High School stadium on Odell St.
Pastor Scott Tempero said there will be a praise singing time, Sunday school activities for all youths, as well as activities for the adults, followed by a brunch and a short worship service.
“This is time for celebrating God’s amazing grace,” Tempero said. “We invite anyone searching for a church home to come and share in the Family Fall Festival.”

Bushton parish to hold annual supper at new site

BUSHTON — Holy Name Parish of Bushton will host its annual Fall Supper on Sunday, Oct. 28, serving a roast beef dinner from 5-7 p.m. This year the event will be held at the Bushton Community Center on the north side of Bushton.
Other activities will include a raffle, featuring a queen-size quilt as grand prize, bingo, cake wheel and children’s games.
Cost of the meal, including a salad bar and pie, is $8 for adults, $4 for children age 6-12 years, and free for those age 5 and under.


Bible’s ‘action figures’ lead Heroes Unmasked festival

Great Bend Church of Christ invites children to its Heroes Unmasked Fall Festival from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 4, at the church, located at 12th and Stone St.
“All kids have heroes,” sponsors said. “At our Heroes Unmasked event, kids will meet heroes with having – and have a ball at carnival games as well.
“Heroes Unmasked is an exciting way for kids to learn more about God’s love. Children and their families will encounter costumed Bible hero actors, play more than a dozen carnival games, decorate cookies to take home, do crafts and collect Bible hero cards to trade and treasure.”
