First United Methodist Church will offer Paws-4-Praise this Sunday, Aug. 10, at Veterans Memorial Park. It will be followed by a worship service and community picnic.
Events start and end at the shelter on the southwest side of the lake. A dog trot, for humans and their canine friends, starts at 8 a.m. A worship service featuring the First UMC Revive band starts at 9 a.m., with a special blessing of pets. Everyone (and thing) is invited.
Following the worship there will be bouncy houses, carnival games, sno-cones and hot dogs.
A $10 registration for First’s ongoing missions and service projects is requested.
Everyone is responsible for their own dogs’ behavior, and picking up after them.
First UMC, 2123 Forest Ave., will also host the next Great Bend Chamber of Commerce coffee at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 14.
The new Sunday schedule at First UMC beginning on Aug. 17 will be:
- 8:45 a.m. Traditional worship
- 9:45 a.m. Discover Hour (Sunday School)
- 10:30 a.m. Fellowship (North Entrance)
- 11 a.m. Revive worship
