LARNED — At the Larned Church of the Nazarene, a month with five Sundays means it’s time for a musical celebration. On this fifth Sunday in July, the church will feature the musical talents of Jill Christensen Smith singing songs of encouragement and worship. Everyone is invited to come and enjoy this free event at 7 p.m. Sunday, July 29. The church is located at 1024 Broadway, the corner of Broadway and East 11th St.
Touching lives with song has been Christensen Smith’s lifetime ambition. She has ministered with her music for thousands of people across the United States for more than 20 years. Her many concerts provide her with opportunities to share her Biblically-based, inspirational and encouraging message of love and hope. Her friendly personality and rich voice leaves those in attendance feeling uplifted, challenged and inspired. Her unique blend of music and warm testimony ministers to people of all ages, denominations and religious backgrounds.
It was a Billy Graham film that led to Christensen Smith to know and proclaim Jesus Christ as her personal Savior in 1976, and since that time, she has devoted her musical talents toward bringing the Gospel message to others through her ministry. She received her bachelor’s degree in music education from Friends University in Wichita, and she was a vocal music educator for 10 years in Kansas.
“I am very excited about having someone of this caliber of music professionalism come to bless us at the Nazarene Church,” said the Rev. Leroy Lyon, pastor. “We extend a sincere invitation to everyone to join us and enjoy this night of song and testimony. No one will be disappointed.”
There is no admission charge, but a free-will offering will be accepted for Christensen Smith. Her CDs will be available after the service. Light refreshments will be served after the concert.
