During the week of July 24-28 at First United Methodist Church, several churches united to bring 85 children in Great Bend closer to God and help our community. First Congregational United Church of Christ, Trinity United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church and King United Methodist Church, along with 32 volunteers, hosted “Hero Central” showing children how to discover their strength in God.
All four churches combined to present the Vacation Bible School at First UMC. Coordinator Larissa Graham said the churches take turns hosting VBS.
The VBS mission project was working with the many ministries of the Dream Center throughout the week. On Thursday, July 27, the youth toured the Dream Center and learned about the many services provided to help others in our community. On Friday all of the children and volunteers walked to the Soup Kitchen and performed three songs from the week.
They also presented a donation of $88.25 and 78 items that Dream Center residents can use. The items and money all came from the children and volunteers.
