Our military and financial support of the OPEC nations must stop

I am sure that everyone has noticed that the price of gasoline has been going up for the last couple of years.  Most folks have also been aware of the debate over whether to drill and refine more oil here in America or to restrict that drilling.  This debate also involves the debate over the building of a pipeline from Canada to Texas.  In each case, the administration, with the aid of environmentalists, has restricted this drilling.  What are the effects of these decisions?  Are there other consequences besides rising oil prices?  Do we have a demonstrated solution?
Israel’s major friendly source of oil was America.  However, since America has become more friendly to Islamic nations and less friendly towards Israel, this source has dried up.  Since most of the Arab nations will not sell oil to Israel, Israel has been forced to explore and drill out of the need for sure survival.
In the last three years, there has been a major shift in America’s foreign policy away from the support of Israel and in favor of the OPEC nations.  While this seems to be economically driven, there is more behind it.  Our current president is the only president in our history to deny our Christian heritage, while openly promoting an Islamist heritage in America.  This is revisionist history!
As a result of this repeatedly stated position, we have increased military and financial aid to Arab nations while decreasing these same supports towards Israel.  This administration has openly dishonored Israel’s leaders while literally bowing before and promoting Islamic leaders.
What I found interesting is that, every time that we have experienced major oil price increases and/or gasoline shortages during the last fifty years in America, Arab nations launched a simultaneous attack against Israel.  The oil price increase began a few months before the attack was launched.  Why?  I believe that it was an attempt to dry up the oil surpluses so that America could not supply Israel with the most important resource it needs to defend herself.
Today, there is the threat of a nuclear war by Iran against Israel.  Iran’s president has repeatedly and publically stated his intent to wipe Israel off the face of the global map.  As he has started these threats, oil prices have again increased.  America, instead of firmly standing up against this threat, has warned Israel against any pre-emptive strikes in her own defense.  As a result, we again find ourselves cursing Israel!
Since 1985, Israel has been aggressively exploring and drilling for oil and natural gas, both on and off shore.  I have seen maps of these oil fields and they are extensive.  In fact, one geological survey map done about four years ago shows that the deepest point of the entire mid-east oil basin is under Israel.  Some are now saying that Israel may be totally oil independent by 2015,because of this!  God is already coming to Israel’s aid, even when we won’t.
Is there a solution to our dilemma?  I believe there is.  There are three simultaneous steps that we can take to eliminate this problem. First, America and its leaders must publically repent of its actions that have cursed Israel.  I am not sure that this is possible under the current administration.  However, it must be done.  This can occur from the grass routes up, if we are willing to put out the persistent effort.
Second, we need to stop heeding the often open lies of the hyper-environmentalists and begin aggressive exploration and drilling of oil on our own soil.  The proposed pipeline to Texas will not hurt the environment any more than the millions of miles of existing oil and gas lines we already have hut it.  We are watching Israel do this on her own land right now.
This action should be accompanied by immediate construction of new refineries.  Right now, there are more refineries in Utah than i8n any other state.  I have been there and seen them.  Those folks read the handwriting on the wall years ago and acted.  Now Utah is prospering from this decision.
Last of all, our military and financial support of the OPEC nations must stop.  Our support must be to Israel.  Why?  Israel is the apple of God’s eye. (Zech 2:8)  He will protect her while simultaneously destroying her enemies. (See Ez 39, Rev 19:11-21)  We cannot be on the wrong side of the fence on this issue.  It is up to America’s Christians to pursue these goals.  Many are already working on them.  Will we join them, as well?
