St. Bernard’s announces 50th turkey dinner

BELPRE — St. Bernard’s Parish Hall will hold its 50th annual Turkey Supper on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the parish hall in Belpre. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. and continue “until food runs out,” sponsors said.
There will also be a drawing for prizes, country store and games. In honor of the 50th anniversary, every 50th person in the service line will get their meal free.

King UMC invites public to Family Fall Festival

King United Methodist Church, located at 16th and Odell St. in Great Bend, will host the Family Fall Festival from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Sunday, Oct. 21. There will be praise singing time, Sunday school activities for all children, activities for the adults, a brunch and a short worship service.

The Story of St. Therese of Lisieux’ showing at motherhouse

The Dominican Sisters of Peace are showing movies with a message this fall.
Movies begin at 6:15 p.m. in the auditorium of the Motherhouse at 3600 Broadway Ave. in Great Bend. Refreshments and discussion will follow. A freewill donation is requested.
The Friday, Oct. 19, movie will be “The Story of St. Therese of Lisieux.” The 2004 film is described as: “The mesmerizing story of a young girl’s romance with God. Her faith, trials, and sacrifices reveal a way of life based on love and simplicity. A contemplative film based on the true story of Saint Therese of Lisieux.” Run time is 96 min.
On Nov. 16, the movie will be “From the Life of Hildegard von Bingen,” and on Dec. 2 the movie will be “The Ben Carson Story.
