Twelve youths will represent Great Bend at a national fine arts competition this summer.
The youth group at First Assembly of God Church, known as the SALT Youth Group, will attend the Assemblies of God Fine Arts Festival in Louisville, Ky. To compete at nationals, the group had to qualify by competing on a regional level, said Rachel Basden at the church. They placed high enough to go through to the next round with great scores for individual and group performances.
To help raise funds for the trip, a dinner will take place at from 6-9 p.m. Monday, July 30, at Montana Mike’s restaurant, 906 McKinley St. Tickets are $12.
Students in the SALT youth group are also raising money for their annual missions project.  The teenagers plan to travel to Miami, Fla., to help those in need.
If interested in purchasing tickets or to make a tax deductible donation toward helping youths get to the competition, contact the office of First Assembly of God, 620-792-5211, or agmettling@1st-assembly.com. Tickets will be available until noon on July 30.  All donations will support the group’s missions efforts.
