ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Sarah Hammeke, Ellinwood, was one of 16 Webster students recognized for their student leadership roles on Webster University’s Webster Groves campus in the 2019-2020 academic year. The 27th Annual Student Leadership Awards Ceremony, held on Wednesday, May 6 via Zoom, was co-sponsored by Student Affairs and the Student Government Association. Sarah was awarded the Mark Govoni Emerging Leader award.

Besides individual awards, several student organizations were also honored for their superior programs and service to the campus.

The ceremony is normally held on campus a few days before Commencement. This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the government orders that limited how many people can gather together, the ceremony was held online, with John Buck, the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs & Dean of Students, broadcasting from his home while wearing a tuxedo. The entire ceremony can be viewed online.

Students were selected through a nomination process that allows students, faculty and staff. Committees of faculty and staff then reviewed the nominations and selected the winners.
