Handbooks for the next school year are on the agenda for the next Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education meeting. It will start at 5 p.m. Monday at the District Education Center.
This will be the second reading and board approval is requested for 2016-2017 Student and Teacher Handbooks, Athletics and Activities Handbooks and the first One-to-One Chromebooks Handbook. This fall all high school and middle school students will be supplied with Chromebook personal computing devices, and there will be guidelines for students and parents.
Other items on the agenda include recognition of Teacher of the Year Candidates Vicki McCulley and Brian Hutchinson; GBHS Roofing Bid; 7-12 Math Curriculum adoption; 9-12 Foreign Language adoption; purchase of additional Automated External Defibrillators; update on Activities and Athletic photography; and update on the new activity bus.
A Resolution to Extend Term of Office will be presented. Because Kansas will no longer have general elections in April, terms of office will be extended for any elected board member affected by the move to November elections.
The board will be asked to approve donations. Karen Shaner will be present to represent a group of local donors who wish to fund a bike giveaway program for the fourth year. Each elementary school will receive bicycles as funds permit. Students with perfect attendance will be entered in a drawing for a bike.
