The Great Bend USD 428 Board of Education will consider a proposal for increasing the base salary of teachers when it meets at 5 p.m. Monday, April 9, at the District Education Center, 201 S. Patton Road. The agenda includes an executive session for discussion of this matter under the category of employer-employee negotiations.
Other items on the agenda include recognition of Teacher of the Year candidates Stacey Magnett and Signe Cook, and Great Bend High School Assistant Principal Randy Wetzel’s presentation regarding the recent addition of student-led conferences, which has led to a significant increase of parent participation.
The board will consider flooring and roofing bids and adopt the next science curriculum/textbook purchases for K-6 and GBHS. Teachers from the Elementary Science committees and the Secondary Science committee presented their recommendations for these curricula at the March meeting. The first reading of science materials recommendations for middle school students will also be presented Monday.
The board will approve contributions, grants and grant application submissions, including the Perfect Attendance Bicycle Giveaway Program which is funded by local donors.
The agenda also includes renewal of Kansas Association of School Boards membership; first reading of next year’s student handbook and teacher handbook; adoption of technology literacy standards; and action on personnel.
