David Barnes, director of the Shafer Art Gallery at Barton Community College, will be at the Great Bend Public Library at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16 as part of the Third Thursday Speaker Program. Barnes will walk through a visual look at why art and art making have been considered an essential part of the experience of being human, as well as touch on examples from philosophical, anthropological, biblical, and multi-cultural sources.
As part of the library’s Third Thursday Speaker Program, Barnes is the latest expert to volunteer his time and expertise to give a free lecture on a fascinating topic in which he is well versed.
Barnes earned his M.F.A. in painting from the Milton Avery Graduate School of the Arts at Bard College, NY. He also received an M.A. in History from Missouri State University.
The public is invited to attend this opportunity to learn about art and its influence on us.
