Sheriffs Office plans selective enforcement
BCSO seal

On Friday, the Barton County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a selective enforcement in the area of North East 30 Road from U.S. 281 to K-156, Sheriff Brian Bellendir said.

Deputies will be there from 7 a.m. to about 9 a.m. and again from about 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. They will be looking for seatbelt and speeding violations.

“With the 2017 school year well underway, it is customary for the Barton County Sheriff’s office to determine areas in the county that present particular safety issues and conduct selective enforcement in those areas,” Bellendir said. The BCSO looks for where there are historically high accident rates high numbers of calls from citizens about excessive speed.

“We wish to remind everyone seatbelts are required by Kansas law and to be careful in school zones and areas of high traffic congestion,” Bellendir said. “Please drive safely.”
