The Dominican Sisters of Peace will no longer hold their annual bazaar in Great Bend but they have opened a Gift Shop that will be open year-round at the Motherhouse, located at 3600 Broadway Ave.

Many of the items previously sold at the bazaar can be found in the shop, including craft items, kitchen towels and the always-popular scrubbies. The store is open on Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and on Thursdays from 3-6 p.m. To make other arrangements to purchase items outside of the Gift Shop hours, call 620-792-1232 ask for Sr. Carol. 

 Another popular aspect of the annual bazaar was the raffle. This year, the sisters will offer a “Raffle-Only Mission Bazaar,” benefitting their mission in Nigeria and the economic poor where the sisters serve. They will be drawing the raffle winners on Saturday, Nov. 12. Raffle tickets will be sold through Nov. 11, and may be purchased at the website oppeace.org.

Prizes include a queen-size quilt, hand-turned wooden bowl, hand-sculpted Santa, handcrafted children’s rocker, two gift baskets, necklace, Waterford crystal decanter with 12 glasses, and cash prizes ranging from $100 to $800.
