STAFFORD — The Stafford, Kansas Circles group has started a series of information sessions to assist people in the community to improve their life situation. Programs will take place at the United Methodist Church in Stafford. There will be a meal at 5:30 p.m. and the session will run from 6:15 to 7:25 p.m.
The meals are free but reservation must be made by Thursday the week before the scheduled session. Call Mark Blakeslee at 620-960-2778.
The first program will be held on Monday, Sept. 16, and meal reservations are requested by Thursday, Sept. 12. The program will feature Cody Helms with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, who will share information and answer questions on benefits offered by Kansas Medicaid or KanCare. Topics will include families with children, individuals with disabilities, elderly, aged out foster care, pregnant women, persons who are eligible for waiver programs, and SOBRA — a program for people who do not meet citizenship rules. SOBRA covers life-threatening emergency care costs and baby deliveries.
Future programs include Kathy Sipes from Prairie Bank of Kansas, whose Sept. 23 presentation will be about repairing credit, and Anita McQueen will give a presentation on Oct. 21. on purchasing a new home.
