The Great Bend City Council’s meeting on July 6 will include a public hearing on the possible adoption of the STAR Bond project plan, followed by a vote on an ordinance to adopt the project plan.
The meeting starts at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall and will also be live-streamed on the City Council Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/cityofgreatbend/.
Just before the public hearing, Great Bend Economic Development Executive Director Jason Kuilan will present his monthly report.
Other items on the agenda include:
- Taking action that could secure a grant toward the construction of a new municipal swimming pool. The council will be asked to approve a resolution of support, authorizing submission of the Lands and Water Conservation Fund grant application for the Wetlands Waterpark Redevelopment Project.
- Approving the 2026 Employee Handbook.
- Authorizing the mayor to sign a $35,100 work order amendment to the Garver contract on runway design at the Municipal Airport. This is to comply with Federal Aviation Administration grant obligations. The amendment to the April 20 agreement will add $877.50 to the City’s share (2.5%) of the design project.
- Purchasing a 2019 Ford F750 dump truck from United Rentals for $56,999. Public Works Director David Dunekack will present details.
- Purchasing a grapple bucket from DYMAX Inc. for $33,337.50. Dunekack will report on this as well.
- Approving the bid for security and camera upgrades at the Wastewater Treatment Plant from Hammeke Electric for $49,109.50. Utilities Director Darren Doonan will report.
- Approving the purchase of a 2025 Vactor 2100i truck from Key Equipment for $494,064. Doonan will report on this as well.
