Storms move into Barton County

Trees and power lines were down in parts of Great Bend as the Tribune was preparing to go to press Tuesday evening.
At 8:55 p.m. wind gusts of 55 miles per hour were reported.
The National Weather Service placed Barton County in a severe thunderstorm watch, and warned of possible hail and flash flooding. A tornado warning was sounded in the Galatia area about that time, but it was canceled a short time later.
At 9:25 p.m. there was high water on some Great Bend streets, including 10th Street. About 10 minutes later, three vehicles were stalled out near 10th and Washington and another in front of Great Bend High School. Barricades were being set up at 10th and Washington at 9:45 p.m.
