Doxo, a national online bill-paying network company, released last week a report (2023 U.S. Bill Pay Market Size and Category Breakout Report) that reveals Americans spend a total of $3.87 trillion annually on household bills. The report also found that, the average American household spends approximately $2,046 a month, or $24,557 per year on the 10 most essential household bills.  

In addition to the national insights, doxo also has new 2023 household spend information for Great Bend, including the following: 

• The average Great Bend household pays $1,525 a month, or $18,301 a year for the 10 most common household bills.

• Great Bend households spend 38% of their income on household bills.

• The household expenses in Great Bend, on average, are 34.2% lower than the national average of $2,046, and 19.3% lower than the state average of $1,820.

• Great Bend is the 28th most expensive city in Kansas for household bills.

• Great Bend residents’ bills are $6,256 per year lower than the U.S. average.

The data, which doxo has for Great Bend as well as 4,000 cities across the United States, looks at total amount spent on bills per month, and also breaks down bill payments into 10 different categories, including utilities, auto loans, cable bills, and more.  

A breakdown of those categories includes:

• Rent – $695

• Auto loans – $538

• Utilities – $357

• Health insurance – $126

• Auto insurance – $178

• Cable and internet – $81

• Mobile – $85

• Alarm and security – $108
