Starting around Monday, April 20, and continuing for three weeks, the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will have a field survey team surveying a section of US-56 Highway in Rice County. The survey area will include the section of US-56 highway 1,200 feet east and 1,200 feet west of the US-56 bridge over the overflow channel for the Little Arkansas River located 1.1 miles east of the US-56 highway intersection with K-46 highway. The purpose of the survey is to gather information necessary to create detailed designs for future highway improvements.
Michael Selley, P.S., Field Survey Project Manager, will be in charge of this survey for KDOT. A member of the survey crew will contact landowners and/or tenants for permission to enter private property. Survey activities will include the use of survey equipment on the ground to determine locations on existing features within the survey corridor.
Persons with questions about the survey can contact Martin Miller, KDOT South Central Public Affairs Manager, at (620) 663-3361 or toll free at 1-877-550-5368.
