Greetings from the Great Bend Public Library! I would like to start out this article with a thank you to Fuller Industries, for their extremely generous donation of hand sanitizer. Great Bend as well as many libraries in central Kansas received donations of hand sanitizer from Fuller Industries. Their generous donation will ensure we can continue to provide hand sanitizer to staff and patrons, to keep everyone safe.

Next week our open Book club will be meeting at Perkins restaurant, on Tuesday the 21st at 6 p.m., to discuss this month’s book, “The Name of the Wind.” Copies of the book are available at the front desk. That Tuesday we will also have our Facebook story time with Miss Amy at 10:30. If you can’t make it to any of the storytimes they will be available on our Facebook and website, to view later.

We had our Facebook live fairy tale trivia night last Friday and we have the recording of that on our Facebook and website for anyone who missed it and would still like to participate. You can easily watch the recording and play along at home keeping score with family and friends.

We have tons of take-and-make crafts for teens and adults to grab while at the library and do at home. For adults and teens, we still have some of the mermaid book folding kits available, as well the say “hello to cross stitch” kits. Both come with all the supplies and instructions you will need to complete the craft in the comfort of home. For teens, there is a T-shirt backpack craft. That shows you how to upcycle an old shirt into a cool new drawstring backpack. Teens can also visit the Teen Spot and ask for a mystery take and make. This will be a random mystery craft, with all the supplies and instructions included, but you won’t know what you get until you get home and open everything up.

Don’t forget, it’s not too late to register for our children’s and teen’s summer library program. You can find information on how to register on our website, greatbendpl.info. Adults don’t need to register, just ask for a summer library bag while you here, for everything you need to participate. While you’re here picking up summer library bags or take and makes, don’t forget to take a look at our “new books” shelf or at our movie section. We have gotten a lot of new books and movies recently, so be sure to stop by and see what’s new.
