Kelsey Kaemmerer, 19, of Great Bend, was taken to Great Bend Regional Hospital on Monday after the car she was driving went off NE 10 Ave. (North Frey St.).
The Barton County Sheriff’s Office reports Kaemmerer was driving north in the 100 block at 3 p.m. when she lost control of the car, a Chrysler 300M, due to the ruts or washboard of the road. The car went up the west side of a concrete bridge and onto the guardrail, traveled 50 feet along the guardrail and then rolled over the bridge. While in mid-roll the car hit the north bridge concrete and horizontal support on the west side. The car stopped rolling when it hit the bridge support head-on, then dropped straight down to the creek bed, coming to rest on its top. Kaemmerer was wearing a seat belt. She was extracted from the car and transported by Great Bend Fire Department Ambulance. Fire Chief Mike Napolitano said, “The occupant was very lucky she was found by someone driving by and noticed the damage on the bridge rail.”
